Disappearing file association

I recently installed 3 programs on my Windows XP Pro -- WinRAR, Acrobat Reader, and QuickTime. However, the programs lose their associations after rebooting the computer. I already disabled (stopped the service) the anti-virus and firewall programs when I installed the applications. What could be possibly wrong?

what i guess!! you will have to remove the last loaded program from contro panel+add remove program. And then run your firewall and Anti virus,
This would not create any problem
