disappearing email due to buried rule

Throughout the years I have been using Outlook, started with the '97 edition, and unsing now the 2003 edition. All the way long I kept working basically with the same *.pst file, however somewhere during the application's upgrades a rule a/o folder must have been lost as I set emails from a certain sender to be sorted into a special folder, however nowadays emails from this sender are disappearing after being retrieved from the email server.
I have already deleted all rules as well as swithced off the spam filter in Outlook but still facing the same trouble - any idea where the messages would be buried?

Can you find the missing messages using Advanced Find? If so, maybe you
have a view or filter set that is hiding the messages from this particular
sender.

You might want to try running the Inbox Repair Tool against this .PST file
to see if it finds any errors. Search your hard drive for a file called
scanpst.exe and run it. Allow the tool to make a backup of your file before
it repairs anything.

I'm not sure if there is one, or where to find it. You can try posting the
log here and maybe someone will be able to help you decipher it. In the
meantime, have you tried allowing the program to fix the errors in the file?

Yes, according to the log it fixed the errors, however in the meantime I received another message from the source in question and the message went missing again in Outlook... ???

As I said, if you post the log to this newsgroup, someone might be able to
help you figure out what the errors were...it might help you discover why
the messages are going missing. I am unfortunately not an expert in this
area. If you do post the log, please make it a new post, as this thread is
getting long and rather old and may be overlooked -- make sure you include
details from what we've already talked about.

Followed your suggestions, but seems no one out there to help to decipher the log, hence I am not any further then from the start of this thread

Sorry...you might try posting it again in a few days. This is an
all-volunteer forum so you never know for sure if a particular question will
be answered or not.
