disable basic dvd software

How do I disable basic dvd software. Just bought a
rewriter and Im getting the blue screen treatment
 
Hi,

There is no "basic DVD software" in WinXP, there is only the native CD
burning software (the Imapi burning service). What does your blue screen
stop error say, and why do you suspect DVD burning software?
