DirectX 1 Issue

I bought a program for music recording and it
requires DirectX 8.1 it says. According to the Microsoft
WebSite it says that Windows XP already have it
installed. he problem is when I try to install the
program it says ''DirectX 8.1 was not detected on your
system''. Any ideas in how to fix that? I'll aprecciated
a lot if someone help me out.

What version do you have,xp is now at 9.0b you can re-install it a
downloads page.Why purchase recording software,you can download th
WMP9 series encoder for free,youll have a hard time trying to beat it !!
