I have a Dell precision 670 desk top with Windows XP as the OS. I need to download Direct X so that Microsoft Flight Simulator will run properly. When I go to the Microsoft Direct X download page there are many choices to choose from. Which of these do I need?

Download DirectX 11........
most "games" use/need DX9, nevermind DX 10 ... I wouldn't bother with DX11, even if you can use it.

Are there any games that can actually use DX11 yet? I don't think so.

There are only a handful of games, comparitively speaking, that can take advantage of DX10.

And even then only if you're running Vista or Win 7.

If using XP DX9 fits all.

Although, having said that, one of Microsoft's claims has always been that DX is backwards compatible.

If it were me, running XP, i'd settle for DX9.

Good enough :)

DX 9 is as high as you can go on XP.

This is why i linked to the Web installer. No user choice needed, :)
