Direct Cable Connection

Have been trying to set up a DCC between my old computer
and new computer for file and application transfer. Have
followed the instructions to the letter. Have icon under
direct connection and it says direct parallel. When I try
to connect I get an error message that says the connection
attempt failed because the network is busy. I don't have
network. Can anybody help? Thanks

Likewise, am trying to do a direct cable from old comp.
uter running Win 98 SE to new one running Win XP. Am
using a File Transfer Cable (DB9 Serial) per instructions.

Am using the File Transfer wizard from XP. Both computers
react per instructions until I get the Please Wait...
on both (please wait while the wizard in connecting to
the other computer. This may take a minute. After an
hour nothing changes.

Any suggestions?

I am having a sim problem getting an XP and a 98 to communicate, following all the instructions but it just doesn't work, did you figure out how to do it?

You need the same network protocol installed on both boxes.
