I have a Sony DSC-P50 which came with a MGI PhotoSuite v
8.1 disc but I can no longer get it to download photos
from the camera. It has worked previously but will not
now. Has anyone any ideas?

If this is a recent issue you might try using System Restore to take you
back to a time prior to when this began. Start\All
Programs\Accessories\System Tools\System Restore.

Mike, I don't believe Trevor will need to do a System Restore for that may delete som
much needed files/programs. Within the MGI Photo Suite he should select Acquir
under File and select Source from which to download pictures. His may be set to his
scanner or another digital device, thus no download. Try this first before doing a Restore
I have learned this from past personal experience.

It would depend upon how far back a restore point he uses. System Restore,
only returns to a former system state. If it worked yesterday and not
today, returning to yesterday isn't likely to delete files or programs he
needs, especially if they were available in that previous system state.

That said, I probably should have delved further into this as his statement
"It has worked previously but will not now" could mean it worked previously
on another setup, another OS. However, if it was XP and if the problem is
relatively recent, System Restore might well undo a change that was made,
either wittingly or unwittingly, that might have altered his settings enough
to prevent the operation.

I want to clarify my last message as upon thinking about my response to you,
Byte, it occurred to me we might be speaking about two different procedures.
When I referred to System Restore, I was referring to an applet in Windows
that allows the user to return to a state prior to when a problem occurred.
Start\All Programs\Accessories\System Tools\System Restore.

I was not referring to using a restore disk which would do precisely what
you stated in your post.

Hope that clarifies.
