Difficulty seeing listings on start menu

When I press Start and All Programs, there is a beige box
blocking the lower 1/2 of the programs list. When I pass
the cursor over the box, the underlying program list
appears and functions normally. I have a screen shot but
cannot send it to this server.

Any suggestions to cure this problem?

Right click the Start button, select Properties, Customize and uncheck Use
Personalized Menus.
