Customizing Start Menu

The new, enlarged Start Menu (not the old 'Classic' menu) available for WXP
can be customized using the Customize Start Menu dialog box. Under the
'General' tab, one can use a scrolling box of numbers to change the "number
of programs on Start menu".

Can anyone tell me what part of the Start Menu this option refers to
specifically? Is it one of the parts or sub-divisions of the menu that first
appears when you press the Start button, or is it the top part of the menu
that appears when you click on 'All programs'? Nothing on any part of the
menu seems to correspond to the number set under the General tab.
Thanks.

Yes. I believe it is the sub division of recienly used programs on the
bottom left.

Thanks Joseph. That makes sense. I have the number set at 4 and 4 recent
programs appear on screen, although a much larger number of recently used
programs are out of sight.
