difficulty installing games

I can install programs like systemworks and zone alarm from my dvd player but
not games. I can partially install cd games but about 2/3 of the way through
they simply stop installing. I get the following code
error code -5000:0x8000ffff

assistance would be appreciated.
 
To disable the SP2 warning for running activeX on a CD drive, go to : IE, Tools menu, Options, Advanced Tab, -- scroll down to the
Security area, check the box for, "Allow active content to run in CD drives on My Computer"
 
The problem turned out to be a defective burner. It simply wasn't reading
right. I installed a dvd rom drive and was able to install without problems.
I then replaced my burner.
