Difficulty Deleting History

For some reason I occasionally have trouble erasing my
history. I got to Tools | Internet Options and click
Clear History, but nothing happens. I've tried closing adn
reopening the browser, but that doesn't seem to work
either. I've also tried using TweakUI's "Paranoia" button
to erase things, as well as going to the toolbars
Properties | Advanced | Clear button. None of those
things works.

But the weird part is that sometimes they do work. Wonder
what could be going on?

Try it from Control Panel> Internet Options with no IE windows open.

Thanks, Don, but I've tried that many times (with Explorer
windows open and not open) and still don't get any results.

I guess I can just go Documents and Settings and erase the
history, but that seems awfully cumbersome.

Your History folder may be damaged.
Free History Eraser from
http://smartprotector.com/eraser/free-history-eraser.htm will delete the
History folder and a new one will be created when you restart.

Or the History folder can be deleted manually:
