Cannot clear browser history

Can anyone tell me why it is that I just cannot clear my browser history
from the tools/internet options/clear history on the toolbar of the IE6
browser. I clear the browser then create a new search, recheck my history
and all of my old searches are there again. I thought I had this under
control, I had installed Zone alarm and Things seemed to be going well, if i
cleared my history from within the browser it stayed clear and I could go on
to a new search.

Can anyone also tell me why so called internet eraser programs do not
instantly clear internet activity but require you to re boot before they
work, it kind of defeats the object

Hi,
Close all IE windows and try clearing the History from Control panel>
Internet Options.
You may need to shut down other programs as well.

Also
The ActiveX filter of McAfee (and possibly other) anti-virus programs can
interfere with the history function of IE. Just disable the ActiveX filter.

Or... Your History folder may be damaged.
Free History Eraser from
http://smartprotector.com/eraser/free-history-eraser.htm will delete the
History folder and a new one will be created when you restart.

Or the History folder can be deleted manually:
