cannot clear history

sorry to my bad english first.

OS: Windows XP SP2

sometimes i click 'clear history' button which is in CONTROL PANEL's
INTERNET OPTIONS and wanna empty my browser history. But, it does nothing.
when i open IE my history still there. if i wanna delete those history items
i had to open 'LOCAL SETTINGS' in 'DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS' directory and
remove all history record manually. it's annoying. how can i delete browser
history by click 'clear history' button just like it should be? HELP me
pls!!! THANKS IN ADVANCE.

Hi,
With no IE windows open, try clearing the History from Control Panel>
Internet Options> General> Clear History.

You may have a damaged History folder. Delete it- a new History folder will
be created on restart.

Thanks, contents within http://support.microsoft.com/kbid=323687 are very
useful and important. In fact, RESOLUTION 1 "Quit all running programs" is
the key for resolving the annoying problem. And I found a running Windows
Messenger makes the "clear history" tab lose function.
