Possibly your History folder is corrupt:
[XP\2K]
Log on as Administrator and delete the desired <username> folder(s).
[example]
"C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\HISTORY"

I am using Internet Explorer 6 as my default browser. Often I find that
clicking the 'Clear History' button under Tools--->Internet
Options--->General doesn't clear the history. I have to click the button,
say, 5-6 times then only the history gets cleared. Many a times I have to
click the button more than 5-6 times to clear the history i.e. sometimes it
gets cleared by clicking the button twice but sometimes it doesn't get
cleared even after clicking the button 10-12 times!!! If I find that history
still doesn't get cleared, I have to navigate to History folder under
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings & then delete the
history. Any idea on how do I get rid of this problem?
