Difficulties with Firewire connection to DV Camera

D

David P

I recently purchased a firewire PCI card to install with
my Windows XP system. The DV camera software that was
supplied with the camera can only accept a feed from a
COM port. None of the 8 COM ports reads from my camera
now that it is connected to the computer via the
firewire. Previously, I was downloading pictures to my
PC using a serial port and experienced no problems.

In trying to solve my problem, I have tried to use the
download function in Windows Explorer. However, with
Explorer, I can only download one picture at a time. I
have to move from one photo to the next, each time
downloading the picture in order to download all photos.
I am unable to view all the photos on my DV Camera and
select the ones that I want to download.

Can someone help?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Regards,
David

The software provided with the digital camera is for transferring still
images (sometimes called photo shots) not for transferring video. It will
work with the cable provided with the camcorder.

Firewire is for transferring video ONLY.
