I'm about to buy a new computer and I noticed the option for mce 2005 @ 26
bucks more than home and pro @52 bucks more then home edition.
So, I just wanna know
MCE = Pro but with PVR software right?

Sort of...MCE is a somewhat stripped down version of Pro with added
"Multimedia" features that primarily relate to Windows Media Player. There
isn't anything that can be done in MCE that cannot be done in Pro (let the
flaming begin...), but the reverse isn't true.

As does Home, MCE removes the advanced security features found in Pro (ie,
you cannot make an MCE machine a member of a domain).

Unless your PC has the necessary additional hardware to support
Windows Media Center, you'll never see the benefit of its features.
I would suggest purchasing either XP Home or XP Pro.

Not stripped, apart from MCE 2005 not supporting joining a domain.
Otherwise it is a superset of Pro

And actually, most if not all tv cards come with their own software anyways.

Thanks again
