I changed my backround picture, now any page brought up is black with only
the Icons visible-no text can be seen. I can't get to change settings or
system restore. Safe mode same problem.(I can't sign in as adminstrator,
forgot pass, just user with that user settings). In safe mode I tried use
last good settings but it's the same place, won't go back far enough. Would a
reinstall put back defalt settings? Tahnks for any help.

What happens when you opt for Safe Mode, then when the Welcome screen finally comes up,
you select your user name from the Welcome screen, then before the Safe Mode desktop
loads, and the dialog box asks if you want the Safe Mode desktop to load click YES, or if
you want to go directly to System Restore click NO, and you click NO? Do you go to System
Restore? If System Restore is turned on, are you sure that you do not have a Restore
Point from a date prior to this problem? Normally that only happens if you have a small
hard drive, or if you have manually changed/lessened the amount of space to be allocated
for System Restore Points, or have waited more than a week to try to repair problem. With
a problem as serious as this one, it would be unlikely that you waited long enough for all
Restore Points prior to the problem to be gone (replaced by newer ones which contain
settings that cause the problem). The dates containing Restore Points are the dates on
the calendar in bold font. There should be some System Checkpoints (auto-created System
Restore Points).

When I select my user name the Safe Mode, desktop loads but no dialog box,
just black screen-Safe Mode in each corner and 2 lone Icons, a yellow
triangle with an "!" in it and a small white box with blue trim at top.
Nothing will activate. I would love to get to Syst Restore. I know I have
Check Points well before this happened. Still no luck with the Administrator
pass word. I still wonder if a reinstall would get me back to MS default
settings, if I can get it to run. Any thoughts? Thanks
