Dialup Conncection Dialer Screen at startup

Have started getting the Dialup Connection Dialer popup
screen when XP initially starts up. Does anyone know how
to turn it off. Have run misconfig, looked at the files
that loads at Startup and Services. If I uncheck any of
the networking files, when the computer is restarted, I
get a blue screen with a "critical error" msg. Have to
go back in & enable the file I unchecked. Have also run
system restore. It did not correct the problem.

Hi Sue,

Normal culprits: Messenger, NetMeeting, ICQ, Windows Updates.....

Check: Start/Run/Msinfo32/Software Environment/Startup Programs and Running
Tasks. Also check your run keys:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

Right click My Network Places/Properties/Advanced (top toolbar)/Dial-Up
Preferences/Enable Auto-Dial by Location/Uncheck all locations and check off
always ask me before auto dialing. Also, Disable autodial while I am logged
on.

In the Enable Auto-Dial By Location dialog box, select each location for
which you want the automatic dialing feature to operate. Reboot.

To view the list of names and addresses recorded by AutoDial, type the
following command at a command prompt: rasautou -s

To delete a name or address entry from the list: Start/Run/Regedit

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\RAS Autodial\Addresses

You can delete any TCP/IP addresses that you see under this key. Note that
AutoDial can use IP addresses, DNS fully qualified domain names (FQDN), and
NetBIOS names.
