We don't want to connect when we turn on machine. But the dialer window
comes up before we can even get to the desktop. I've checked out every
setting, both in that window and in the control panel, and it still does it.
We have Windows XP, use Windows Internet Explorer, and we're on dialup. I
finally got the dialer window to at least stop connecting automatically, so I
can hit "Cancel" to make the window go away and get the desktop icons to come
up. Later, when I want to get online, I select the icon for Windows Internet
Explorer, which is the only time I should be seeing that stupid dialer
window. How do I make that dialer window not come up when I turn on the
machine? It is so annoying. I'm thinking perhaps some program that we've
downloaded is set to go online when the machine is turned on, and we have so
much junk on this machine, I cannot go thru every one of them and check those
settings. So, if someone else has noticed this started happening when they
installed some program recently, I'd appreciate knowing what it might be.
But that's just my guess. Unless I'm missing some simple solution by looking
at a setting that is buried somewhere that a normal user wouldn't know about,
but I thought I knew everything. Thanks.
