Blue Screen at startup

When I start my Windows XP I sometimes get a blue screen at startup. No
icons at all. I press CTRL+ALT+DEL, choose Task Manager and File, New Task
(Run...) and Open "EXPLORER" - then Windows starts up. My Windows has all
windows updates installed, and I have a standard HP pc.

Why do I get this "error" sometimes? Please help, thanks.

I have a similar problem, except in my case, the windows explorer crashes
and I am looking at a blue screen. Happens two or three times a week. I
have not found a reason or a cure, and have come to the conclusion that the
only way out is a complete Windows XP rebuild.
