Dial-up Connection opens automatically

Running Windows 98. When I start the computer the Dial-up
Connection pops up by itself. How do I set this so the
only time it pops up is when I start IE6?

Not as simple as it sounds perhaps.

What this means is that "Something" on your system is trying to make contact
with something else on the internet. Any application can call that box up
for dialing.

Do you know of anything that should run at startup (say to check for
updates). It could be anything from your Antivirus program to spyware or
something related to a new piece of hardware like a disk drive.
