DHCP Problem

Dan

I have a Compaq Laptop with a DLink G630 wireless card. (also an internal
NIC). This Laptop is used by various personel when traveling. Now the
network connection (wireless or wired) connects but fails to get the proper
address from DHCP in the router. I get Address Type "Automatic Private
Address". To further test I put the Wireless card in another Laptop (same
make and model) and it works fine. What could the problem be?

Event viewer shows
Warning Event ID 1006, Source Dhcp, Unable to automatically configure the IP
parameters for Net Card. The requested service provider could not be loaded
or initialized.

Error: Event ID: 20035, Source Rasman, Remote Access connection manager
failed to start because it could not create buffers. Restart the computer.
Access is denied.

What does CBeyond have to do with it? I am connecting to a Wireless SMC
Router. It should hand out the correct IP even if it is not connected to
anything.

Hi

What does your DHCP Server report from:

ipconfig /all

What happens if you start Remote Access Connection Manager manually - logon
as an admin first.

Dan

When starting manually I get "Could not start the Remote access Connection
Manager service on Local Computer." Error 5: Access is denied.

After regedit and reboot - Still getting Automatic Private Address. Event
viewer showing error, Source ipnathlp, Event ID 36002

What about re-installing SP1?
