I would like the know the difference in manual entering an IP address and
using DHCP. Benfits, fallback? If I enter a manual IP address when the
computer boots up on the network, does it push out its IP address to DNS and
DHCP?

TIA

The client will update DNS. The client gets info from DHCP. It's best to
pass out the addresses throug DHCP, and if you need control of a user always
getting the same IP, set up a mac address reservation in DCHP. Ifyou set
all workstations manually, if you make a network change, you have to
manually touch all those machines. There are a lot of neat settings you can
push through DHCP. Use DHCP.
