Desktop oddity

I have just noticed when I let my cursor hover over most Quick Launch items
that the info appears below and behind the taskbar at the bottom of the
screen. It is not an expanded taskbar, only a one line affair. Any ideas as
to why most of these descrptions should print so low?

Thanks

What you're experiencing is a well known issue that doesn't
have a permanent solution. Microsoft doesn't provide much help,
but here's their suggested solution.

Tooltips for some taskbar icons are hidden behind the taskbar
on a Windows XP-based computer
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=912650&SD=tech

The most effective temporary fix I've come across is the
following;

Click on Start.
Click on All Programs.
Right click on an entry from the list.
Select "Sort by name" from the menu.

To give credit where credit is due, here's the source of this
advice, the ever humble Micky.

Tooltips behind taskbar - FIXED!

It's funny that I had just done that move of right clicking on a program to
do a sort for another reason but unfortuanately it didn't help the current
problem. Based on the fact MS is not doing much to support this OS I guess I
will have to use my common sense to remember what the icons are for. My poor
atrophried brain! I will just live with it. Thank you for digging that out
for me. Through the courtesy of an MVP, I just used the XP past items script
again and it works fine. Thanks again.

Thanks all for the responses. I guess I can live with seeing the top edge of
the info box and ignore it.
