Design faults in IE7 re icons and tabbed pages.

S

Stickems.

1) IE7 has changed my icons in my shortcuts (to web sites) on my desktop to
the IE7 icon and won't allow me to change them back to my preferred icons.
Does anyone have a work around for this piece of bad systems design.

2) There is no way to save my tabbed pages so that they open each time I
start IE7 without me checking an option in a dialogue box every time I close
IE7.

Sucks doesn't it! There's been lots of talk about this. Changing
your icon size MIGHT help. What I did is make shortcuts like:
"C:\program files\internet explorer\iexplore.exe" http://www.porn.com

The quotes are probably essential. Sucks not being able to drag the
url of the browser bar, but this way you CAN assign any icon you want.
If the icon is provided by the website find the "favicon" in
"temporary internet files," rename and save the "favicons" to a
folder so they are always available for the shortcuts.

Sorry, no help here!

Changing the icon size didn't help. Changing the shortcut URL as you
describe also didn't help.

I know changing the size does not always work. The shortcut should be
changed to a conventional shortcut. I may have explained it poorly.
Make a conventional short cut to "iexpore.exe" and then add the URL
and you can assign this any icon you want that is on your hard drive.

I am sure this will work for you. Just less convenient.

Yes, thanks Don, it does work. I was trying to change the shortcut instead
of replacing it with a conventional shortcut.
