Dell's rip-off of their customers

I purchased a Dell Dimension e520 in November with the understanding I
would receive a free upgrade to Vista Home Premium when Vista was
released to everyone. Dells' web page said that it would be shipped
"In February". Now they are saying that it won't ship till LATE
APRIL!!!

This has me STEAMED!!!

Those who purchase Dells TODAY will receive Vista pre-installed on
them TODAY.

This is UNFAIR to us who purchased computers expecting our upgrades to
ship this month.

Dell's web site can't even give me the status of my upgrade. The site
is being hit HARD, HARD, HARD. I've been trying to find out the
status of my order since Jan 30. Site is just not available. They
claim that "we are upgrading this site". Yeah, right!!!

I think they are trying to delete all the PROMISES they made to us
when we redeemed our upgrades last year, so they can hedge on their
original promised shipment "in February".

If Mr. Dell REALLY wants to straighten out Dell, here are a few
suggestions:

1) PULL out from India, and come back to the US!!!
2) TEACH your staff HOW to support your customers.
3) GIVE your staff the necessary information to SUPPORT your
customers.

I've had to make several support calls since purchasing my computer.
NO ONE I've spoken with in their support department knew HOW to help
me.

NO ONE in their "technical support" department had an INKLING of what
"tech-support" even MEANS.

The last person I spoke with at Dell told me our upgrade disks are not
even in their WAREHOUSES yet!!!

This is UNACCEPTABLE!!!

Come on, Michael!!! Get our upgrades MOVING!!!!

And your ranting about Dell in a Microsoft newsgroup why? There must be a
suitable Dell forum to post to.

At the risk of being flamed, I suspect that the Dell Vista Upgrade site is
actually managed by MS and it's an MS issue

I think your a lunatic - first, only a fool installs a new OS on a
computer that they want to use for anything other than testing.

Second, Vista is not going to give you anthing that you don't already have.

Third - see first again.

I'm sure they under-estimated demand...
If you don't have a gig of RAM and 2.5 ghz processor, don't bother...

IMO...

Dell has been sucking with consumers for quite some time.. they only give a
sh$t about business users...

Remember when Gateway brought back Ted Wait? It never works the second time
around... Now Gateway is getting the raves (now that Ted is gone) for being
the cheapest pc with the best performance... See Pc Mag editorials on that
one...

I bought a laptop from Dell a few years ago and found that Dell tech support
was terrible! Dell's phone center was staffed by people who spoke english as
a second language and didn't understand any of what I said. I am hearing
impaired, people can be hard enough to understand as it is, but throw in
someone who can barely speak english! I do think Jimmy is right, its not Dell
that is the culprit, but its Microsoft. I have same problem with Gateway
(getting the disk), though so far i like Gateway tech support.
