We have a Dell laptop which came with Vista Premium Home installed at the
factory. AOL VR was also installed by Dell at the factory.
When logging onto AOL we do not get the welcome screen. We do get e-mail,
but we cannot access any web sites either from the browser bar or via links
that come in e-mail.
By accessing the internet via Internet Explorer we are able to connect to
web sites and we also have full access to AOL via Internet Explorer.
In troubleshooting we contacted Dell and spent some hours working with their
technical staff trying to determine if there was an issue with the computer.
No problems were found. Dell suggested we contact AOL. We then tried to
gain technical support from AOL, but were once again frustrated. Finally, we
uninstalled AOL and then by going through Internet Explorer we downloaded the
product again. We were still unable to get it to work.
We have visited the Microsoft Download Center in search of an update or
patch that would make the programs play well together. One download looked
promising, but when we tried to download it to our computer we were rejected
with a note saying that the update was not for our system.
Does anyone out there know of this issue and have a solution? Thank you.
