deleting programs

I was wondering if anybody new the answer to this. Is it true that if you
delete something for the add/remove programs in the control panel that it is
still on your computer's hard drive? Someone told me that it's in your
mother board. Is it stuck there forever? I'm asking because my memory isn't
good right now and I'm deleting programs to make it better before I buy more
memory. Is there something else I need to do to get rid of the programs I
don't want? Thanks for anybody's input.

If you remove a program using add/remove programs the program files are
removed from your hard drive (although it does sometimes leave some files if
they are in use).

Reading your post you seem to be confused where programs are installed to.
Programs are installed on your Hard Disk and not the memory. If the problem
you are experiencing is down to low disk space then buying more memory will
not solve your problem.

If the problem is with your computers performance try the following tips to
tidy your computer up:

removing via add/remove programs should remove the bulk of the program
from the hard drive. Soemtimes some parts remain, e.g. because of a
poorly written uninstallation.

If your interest is freeing hard drive space, this is more than
satisfactory for clearing up hard drive memory.

programs may exist in RAM memory, but will be removed when you restart.

the programs you use (in windows or DOS or whatever OS), are not on
the motherboard.

Careful about what you mean by Buying Memory. Replacing a hard drive is
a job. It involves backing up the data. Whether you refer to RAM or
Internal Hard drive, you have to open the box up to install it.

Thank you so much for the information you gave me. I have been having a slow
computer lately and I thought it was because I had too much crap on my
computer. I went ahead a deleted the crap that I don't use. After I did
that it was still running slow so I thought that I might need more memory.
Is that not the case? I thing that helped the most was disabled those start
up items because my startup was the worst. I still feel like it is a little
slow. Maybe because my computer is old? Let me know if you have any more
information for me.

In asking about add/remove programs, and saving hard drive space, you
had obviously misdiagnosed the problem.

Consider a Format and reinstall.
