Deleting an unwanted folder

Could someone tell me how to delete a 'write-protected' folder? I downloaded
a 'free' program off the internet and my girlfriend wants me to delete. I
went to ControlPanel/AddRemove/ and 'deleted' the program from there..but
then an error dialog box told me that there are remains of the program still
on my computer and that I would have to go and find these remains and delete
them. I found the folder in the "Program Files" folder..but when I tried to
delete the folder it said "Make sure that the disk is not full or
write-protected or the file is not currently in use.
Question: Can someone tell me how I determine whether my disk is "Full".
#2. Also, if it is "Write protected?"...and if my disk? or the folder? is
write-protected how do I go about getting rid of this write-protection..and
deleting the folder?
Any and all answers would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
Bye.

Sometimes rebooting (after deleting what you can) then try deleting
the "remains" from last delete. If that doesn't work all references to
the program in "windows\prefetch" & a journey into the horrible world
of "regedit" can work wonders.......or horrors.

The disk isn't full and the folder isn't write protected - the message isn't
quite correct. There are two reasons that you can't delete the folder, the
first being that the folder isn't empty. You have to enter the folder and
delete all the contents, including subfolders, which may not be empty. You
have to check.

But, that leads to the second reason, which is that a part of the app is
still running even though you uninstalled. To fix this, all you have to do
is reboot (you can probably kill the process with tools like Process
Explorer, but a reboot is easy).

After the reboot, you should not have any problems emptying the folder and
deleting it.

Snip ....................

In future use Revo Uninstaller free from:-

http://www.revouninstaller.com/

I find it much better at getting rid of all the leftovers than MS
Add/Remove.
