help on fixing my computer

Hi,
I am trying to clean my pc by deleting programs I dont use anymore and then
I check to see if the folders deleted off my computer after I uninstall them.
Most of them deleted themselves and others I would have to do it myself but
some just dont seem to want to be deleted. I could understand that if I was
trying to delete a windows component. When I try to delete it says access
denied, to make sure the disk is not full or write protected and that its
currently not in use. I dont understand why this is happening. Is there
anyone that know's about this and can help me. Thanks.

Go to the folder and empty it first. There may also be sub-folders.

Also, if you have the folder open - so that you are viewing its contents -
this can mean that you have told Explorer to use it, which prevents its
deletion. Move away from the folder, then right-click on it and choose
Delete.

If the folder won't delete because something is in Use, then you can't
delete it until you find a way to stop the process that's using the "In
Use" file.

One way is to look in the registry for something using the file,
launching it, and removing that key - this is a dangerous process for
most levels of users.

You should start by rebooting your computer, then try and delete the
folder, often a restart is needed to complete an uninstall.

You should not delete programmes. You should uninstall through Start,
Control Panel, Add / Remove Programs. The way you are doing it will
leave bits behind.

Hope this helps.

I have heard about this problem and some people are able to achieve
their removal goals with this free program:

http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/

You can always uninstall the unlocker later if you don't want it
(hopefully IT will be able to uninstall itself).
