What needs to be changes, so I can boot up to xp without
having the system pause during boot up and then prompting
for the delete key to be depressed before the booting
process continues.

Thanks,

Are you not getting some sort of error message during the early stage of
bootup. What you see is a function of the computer bios and has nothing to
do with any version of Windows. Suggest you look at your manual!

To expand a little on what Crusty said, you may need to replace your
motherboard battery (around $3usd). After you replace the battery, go
into the BIOS and set it up correctly with the right time, check that
it sees your hard drive, etc.
