Autochk cannot be found

I recently ran check disk. Now evertime I boot my xp machine up I get a
light blue error screen that says autochk* cannot be found and it pauses
about 5 seconds. Then it continues to boot normally. By searching the web I
found that the registry key for this is set properly, I think... at
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session
Manager\BootExecute with value = autocheck autochk *. Is there a way to
stop this behaviour? Thanks you.

At a Command Prompt issue this command:

CHKNTFS /D

Also make sure that autochk.exe is in your \WINDOWS\system32 folder.

The error message says nothing about the registry but it says that the file
autochk cannot be found. Autochk.exe is supposed to reside in the System32
folder. Is it there?
