Norton won't delete some files, fiend has told be adware/spyware is runnig, so i need to re-boot in safe mode and run Norton, but I can't get it to boot in safe mode...any help?

If you can still get into normal mode, surely Norton can do it's stuff
there?

One of the microsoft.public.win98.x groups will be a better bet. 8-)

This group is for Windows XP. The clue is in the name of the group.

Hold down the control key while the machine reboots, It should give you
the option of booting in safe mode

In Win98, edit the hidden C:\MSDOS.SYS file with Notepad. Under
[Options] insert the line
BootFailSafe=1

(or change =0 to =1 in it if it is already there). Future boots will
be to Safe Mode - you will have to edit it again and make it =0 to
revert to normal booting

You could also check the
BootDelay=
line. if that is =0 you get no chance with F8, so you could put it up
(default is 2, try say 5 seconds) to avoid having to keep editing this
file. Also any
BootKeys=0
will turn off looking for F8 altogether - if that is present delete it
