delete block No (Yes)"

when I try to delete a block of text in Word by highlighting and pressing the
delete key I receive a message "delete block No (Yes)" at the bottom of the
screen. How do I deactive this feature or at least activate the "yes"
option?

Type N for no and Y for yes. Or if you want to disable the prompt, click on
Tools | Options | General | uncheck the two boxes for WordPerfect help and
navigation.

Thanks to all, the problem is now fixed. Interesting though that this is not
a WP feature (I prefer WP over Word but don't tell Bill!). I have never run
across it in the 10+ years I've used WP.

It harks back to WP 5.0 (or 5.1?) for DOS. No one seems to know how these
options get enabled (except by WP migrants erroneously thinking they may be
helpful), but when we asked the developers why they couldn't be removed,
they explained that if they removed the options buttons, there would be no
way to turn the options off if they (as they do) mysteriously became
enabled.

Ah yes, I now recall this in the good old daze of DOS. I for one am glad
that the developers didn't remove it 'cus in my case it did "mysteriously
become active".
