How do I "Delete Block No (Yes)" notation?

When I select a single word or select a block of text by highlighting and
then try to delete by pressing my delete button, I cannot do so. The phrase
"Delete Block No (Yes) appears on the bottom left bar of my screen. How do I
disable this command?

Select Tools > Options > General (tab) and unchek the two WordPerfect
checkboxes.
