I am trying to remove/delete AOL from my pc as I now have
Verizon DSL. I have tried add/remove in control panel and
Windows Eplorer but have failed to delete the AOL program!
If anyone has a cure, I would appreciate your help.

Can't say I blame you for wanting to.

The cure in MOST cases is a reformat and reinstall of the operating system.
Start anew! AOL hooks very deep into the system and is virtually impossible
to remove completely!

A couple of years ago I did a test. On an absolute clean OS installed system (nothing installed but the OS) I installed AOL and then MSN. I then uninstalled both. MSN left 72 references to itself on my system and AOL left 49.

Use a good file search program like Agent Ransack, find and delete any and all references to AOL. Then use regedit to find, and delete, all AOL references in the registry. Use a good reg clean app like RegSupreme and it'll find even more.

Sadly, the only practical way I've ever found to completely
remove AOL from an operating system is to format the hard drive and
perform a clean installation. I absolutely loathe having to resort to
a hard drive format to fix what should be a relatively minor issue,
but it takes a lot less time than manually removing/replacing all of
the Windows system files that AOL replaces with their own versions and
the hundreds of unnecessary registry entries.

What is the error message you see when you try to delete AOL?

Sometimes AOL will have other applications installed and these must be
uninstalled before you can remove the main program.
