Removing AOLv9 from XP Home PC

M

Mike

My buddy finally switched from AOL v9 to Verizon DSL. He installed the MSN
software with the Verizon software.
I want to completely removed the AOL.
Last night I tried to install work VPN so he can access his work Outlook
account from home,. The work Cisco VPN overwrote
the AOL VPN so neither worked. Work VPN tech support told me the PC can
only
have the work VPN installed on the PC.

How do I safely remove AOL?

Can I transfer his AOL email to MSN Verizon or
to just Verizon Outlookk Express?

Thanks

Mike

Greetings --

Sadly, the only practical way I've ever found to _completely_
remove AOL from an operating system is to format the hard drive and
perform a clean installation. It takes a lot less time than
manually removing/replacing all of the Windows system files that AOL
replaces with their own versions and the hundreds of registry entries.

But try using the Control Panel's Add/Remove Programs applet
first, just in case AOL has finally fixed some of its problems.

I still remember finding that out the "hard way" back when I first got a
computer in early 1999. Loaded an AOL CD in there, had to reformat the
computer to remove all the garbage it threw all over the place! Ever
since then, I use AOL CD's only for one thing... drink coasters!
