Defrag problem

Whenever I run Windows Defrag, after the volume has been optimized the
system becomes sluggish. When trying to Restart, an error message reads that
there are not enough Windows resources to run the command.

Only a hot reboot restores the system, but this, too, requires several
attempts before the black screen of "how would you like to start windows"
disappears.

Please?

TIA,
haim

2 possibilities I can think of -
How much free drive space do you have available?
Have you closed all open windows peior to defrag?

Proof to backup your statement please?

Contradict this typical officially pubished comment -
"Disk fragmentation can cause crashes, slowdowns, freeze-ups and even total
system failures."

What would lead you to say there is "little to be gained" by doing a defrag?
Could you please provide some data to support you assertion that the tool
is of no use? Not looking to start an agrument one way or the other but it is
certainly something I am interested in hearing more about.
