Defender Beta Installation Error

I tried following the steps in the link and re-installed the missing
Gdiplus.dll (which was already in the folder where it belonged. I then tried
again, but still had the same error message, stating that I must first
install it, when I already had. Thank you for the effort, but I still need
help!

Hi Jim;

You don't give us an error message number, but in the past when people had
trouble with GDIplus it sometimes resulted in error 0xc0000022. The fix
for that was to give registry permissions for Read and Execute to the
Everyone group for the gdiplus.dll

Dave,

There was no error number associated with it. It states: "Window Defender
requires GDI+. Please load the Windows 2000 Security System PreRequisite
Pack. To view a list of all installation requirements, visit the Microsoft
website: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=63848." When I click that
button, I get a screen that states that it did not download and to press
"Finish" which immediately terminates the installation process. I tried
re-inatalling GDI+, and it is already in the proper place. This seems like a
problem that no one else is having except me.

Please help me.

OK, let me see if I understand what your saying. On this screen:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...9c-df12-4d41-933c-be590feaa05a&displaylang=en

there's a button that says Continue... for validation required of Genuine
Windows

When you click Continue you get to:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...933c-be590feaa05a&displaylang=en&Hash=QKPYQ67

....and the button changes to Download, and next to it is Genuine Microsoft
Software. and when you click that Download button then you get to choose
Save or Run, and at that point the download/installation immediately fails?

What version level is your installed GDIplus.dll file? The one their
offering is 3102.1360

Did you install the Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool (KB892130)
back in May from Ms Updates?
