Default Recording Volume

I am using an Internet Radio recording program called Replay Radio. Every
time I start recording, the Windows XP Mono Mix recording volume resets
itself to right in the middle of the volume slide. This makes my downloaded
files sound terrible. How can I change the volume to stay at the second tick
on the slide?

I found out that the problem was with the "Replay Radio" program itself. In
the setting tab, it asks if you want it to set the "Optimal Level" for
recording automatically. I had this checked and it recorded it too loudly.
It works fine now.
