Matt

We have a laptop that travels between our three store locations and each
location has a network printer but each one is a different manufacturer. Can
the laptop be set to automatically select the printer at any given location
as the default printer while it's there?

Or will it do this automatically?

Hi ... If you go into the control panel area and open the " printers and
faxes " Then you should notice all your different printers , just right
click on the one you want default and you should see " set as default
printer " select that and do that for everytime you are going to use which
ever

Some laptops come with location manager software that looks after that sort
of thing.

Thanks, but unfortunately the person that will be using the laptop 90% of
the time is extremely computer illiterate and even if I showed him this many
times he would still be calling me every time he's at a new location.

Should be easy as well, to implement. I've added this to my To do list.
Meanwhile, if you want to try further in the scripting groups, here is
the news groups listing, collated by James Eshelman, MVP. "Microsoft Public

Well, yes. But what if this just doesn't work?

I can do this within a user account with admin rights but not,
unfortunately, within one with limited rights. Any idea that could help?

Thank you very much.
