Adding a printer

I'm trying to set my Lexmark Z705 printer up on my laptop, but I keep
stalling at the window that displays "Files Needed" with the messsage "the
file usbprint.sys on Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 CD is needed.
Type the path where the file is located, then click OK". C:\i386
automatically populates the path box, but when I click OK, nothing happens
(just that annoying high-pitched error sound). I've searched for both
usbprint.inf and usbprint.sys, and they are both on the computer, under
service pack 2. I can't gain access through the Found New Hardware Windows.
Service Pack 2 was loaded on my XP before I even received it. How can I add
my Lexmark printer to my laptop?

Did you install the Lexmark drivers prior to connecting the printer to
the laptop?

Are you using the latest version of the drivers?

So did you follow install procedure which usually requires you to install
the printer software, before connecting the printer?
