Default Login ID for Home Network

I have two PC's networked. One running XP-HE and the other 2000
Professional. I have a printer scanner connected to the 2000 Professional
box.

I want my kids to be able to access the printer from their machine but they
have to go to Network Places, find the W2K PC, click OPEN/Explore, enter a
login ID and password and then print. I seem to remember when I set the
network up there was an option to "always login as xxxxx user".

Where do I go to specify the default userid the system should use when
attempting to connect? Is that even possible?

This is a limitation of XP Home. It will not automatically reopen share
connections without logging in and entering a password. See my "EasyMap"
batch file on "Tech Tips and Download page" for one solution at

Haven't tried this as I've never touched Home Edition, but creating a user
account on the PC with the printer with an identical username and password
to the account being used on the other PC may work.
