ddns updates failing.

Hello,

I have a problem with machines failing to dynamically update their address
in
DNS. Heres a snip of Event ID 11163

----------------------------------------------

Source: DnsApi
EventID: 11163

The system failed to register host (A) resource records (RRs) for network
adapter
with settings:

Host Name : xxxxx
Primary Domain Suffix : xx.xx.xx
DNS server list :
192.168.1.6, 192.168.1.7
Sent update to server : 192.1.1.1
IP Address(es) :
192.168.1.111

-----------------------------------------------

Where is it getting 10.1.1.1 in the " sent update to server " field from ?

I checked the SOA and it matches the primary domain suffix on the client.

Deleting the address in DNS and reregistering the client does work but is
not pretty

You would need to do an ipconfig /all on the client machines to see if they have additional
DNS IP addresses or how they are configured. You just need to check your IPs on your
network, clients and DNS server. Looks like just a configuration issue.

The above assumes the DNS server and client are on the same LAN and not passing
through any firewalls, etc.

Thanks,
Gary
