data recovery

blue screen error 0x00000024 would not let me into the system at all. Tried
everything even involved dell tech support to no avail.

Had to replace hard drive and start from scratch.

I have aquired an enclosure for the old hard drive and I need to recover a
few precious files from it. When I plug the old hard drive into my sysytem I
still get the blue screen error message. Is there any way to get into the
old hard drive and pull out individual files?

Thanks Andrew.

It will not let me in at all. As soon as the old hd is connected it goes
right to blue screen.

You can Google "data recovery- 99% of all recovery programs are Linux
versions - Linux can access FAT and NTFS file systems on Windows disks.

Or go to the site "Knoppix" and download (Free) a CD version of Linux which
will boot from the CD - installation not required - will provide access to
the drive.

Ouch. Sounds like the drive is shorting out either a power line or data
line/s if just connecting it causes a blue screen stop. I'd guess there
is little you can do yourself. Drive recovery experts can probably get
stuff off it, but it's expensive to do.
Are you sure it's not just a connector on backwards? Not much else
you can do, I don't think.

Luck,

I have recently lost my data from my computer due to the hard disk
corrupted. I have used 'data recovery ' (http://www.stellarinfo.com/)
software to recover all my data. This software is very easy to use and
provides good recovery solution. If the hard drive is physically get
corrupted then you need help of data recovery services.

Sounds like your PC might be set up to boot off the USB / Firewire
drives. You will need to set up the boot sequence so that your
internal drives (IDE and SATA) are the first to boot.
