Blue Screen and Hardware Acceleration: Dr.WAtson debug won't run

I am having this terrible problem with Windows XP Pro SP2 blue screen
on a Dell Optiplex 210KL machine. After a blue screen, and subsequent
reboot I clicked on the "Send Error Report" to MS. The MS bot showed
on the screen how to manually set the hardware acceleration to none
(in the display->settings->advanced->troubleshoot section). I followed
the instructions on the screen. That however didn't work out.

The system is still showing blue screen, especially when I open the
browser. The browser closes immediately and generates an error report
which upon sending to MS doesn't come back with any instructions on
fixing.

I installed SpyWare Doctor to trap all the spyware. While the spyware
doctor is scanning the hard drives the XP showed blue screen.
Sometimes the blue screen shows IRQ something and at other times it
shows that PAGE something is wrong. Most frequently upon opening the
browser (IE 6) it pops a message saying illegal access of memory
location.

I need help desperately because I have a lot of data on the hard drive
that I haven't backed up. I tried adding a hard-drive for backup and
failed. The top from the mother board to the existing hard-drive has
an extra "wide" plug. But the tape that runs from mother board to the
hard-drive has no extra "narrow" plug. I am guessing the narrow plus
is power source and the wide plug is I/0. So I can't install an
additional hard-drive on the machine.

Is it possible to double up a hard-drive with the CD rom ? Are there
any backup devices that can work with USB ports? The Dell Optiplex has
lots of USB ports. Is it possible to backup to a hard drive using one
of the USB ports. When I try to backup the hard-drive to a network
file server the system shows blue screen.

Please help. Thank you.

Hi Will
Thanks for your reply. I removed the ATIVA USB optical mouse and
replaced it with Dell PS2 mouse. That seems to work for the time
being. No more blues. I will post the stop code when I see it next
time.

Thanks again
