Data Label Position

When I try to format the data label position on my chart, the optio
"outside end" is missing. Anyway to get it back
 
Probably not. If XL doesn't think it makes sense, it won't offer that
option.

You can always reposition a datalabel by hand or with the help of an
add-in such as Rob Bovey's free XY Chartlabeler (www.appspro.com).

Outside End isn't available in a stacked column chart, only in clustered columns. I'll often add
a line series to such a chart, with the points along the top of the columns, then format the
line and points to be invisible and label these points, using the Above position.
