While using Win 98, I put photos and all data on a CD to reinstall on new
computer with XP. Now when I put in CD it just spins, drawer will not open,
entire system freezes up. I have to do a hard reboot to get started back and
hold the button in while rebooting to get the CD drawer open. Other CD's
audio and data that I have made with XP all work. How am I to get my data
and photos. What good is backing up if you can't retrieve it?
Grateful for any help

I just read a post that said if I created backup with Easy CD creator that I
would have to use that software to read the data. I really don't remember if
I used that or not, but I did have it on the Win98 system and could have. I
have reinstalled that software, but it is a old version 3.5 and is
incompatable with XP. Now what? Am I going to have to buy a new version of
Easy CD creator and will the new version read data backed up with old
version? I can not upgrade, I checked website and this version is too old to
upgrade. If I take my data CD and software to someone who has Win 98 and
install my Easy CD creator and retrieve data and photos, how can I now save
them so that they can be read by XP? Upgrading computers is maddening.

Hi,

I dumped Easy CD when it did things like that to me so I can't be of any
help there. To open your CD tray without going through the reboot, poke
an opened paper clip into the tiny hole in the front of the player.
