Critial Updates failing

I have 2 W2K SP4 machines (different brands) that refuse to install the
following critical updates. At our company we have had quite a few machines
have this error (from the event log):

Event ID: 20
Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update.

- Security Update for Microsoft Windows 2000 (KB826232)

- Security Update for Microsoft Windows (KB824141)

- Update for Windows Media Player Script Commands (KB828026)


I have tried unloading our virus scanner service, cold booting, having it
manually pushed. Nothing has seemed to help.

Any ideas or suggestions?

When was the last time you tried?

The first 2 that you list are MS03-042, and MS03-043. Both have had
reports of the person installing needing to have Debug rights in order to
install the patches.

MS re-released thier bulletin yesterday claiming to have fixed this
problem...

Not sure about the last one, MS mentions it in thier MS03-040
article...possibly a pre-requisite?

I tried again just now 10/30/03 with no luck. Driving me bonkers! I
checked the requisites for the last one and I meet the requirements.
