Creative Audigy 2....again

Hi.
I have a retail Vista business installed on a blank drive.
I bought a Creative Audigy SE 7.1 card.
Installed it and then updated the driver......but only very BASIC facilities.
The software doesn't work at all (Creative web site says it won't) but I
can't get the Microphone to work.
I can re-set it in Control Panel, but it disables itself within minutes.
I'd like to return the card but is there ANY sound card that works fully?

I've complained to Creative but they just say 'download the
driver'.........idiots!

Any help........to keep me sane!

To begin with, yes they are idiots. They have handled Vista in a very poor
manor.

Unfortunately the most recent driver they offer for your card if very
limited.

For the most part, it's sound only. No ability to record. In addition you
can not use ANY of the software that came with the card:

"Applications bundled with your audio device will not work with this
driver."

Sounds like you *may* have the same no/low-volume microphone problem
with Vista that I've been unsuccessfully complaining about and
troubleshooting for weeks now. (My particular microphone concern is
using it with Skype.) Oddly, relatively few posts are appearing with
this particular complaint (so far, at least), although a few other folks
have mentioned it here, and several of us have been going back and forth
over the issue at:

or TinyURL: http://preview.tinyurl.com/2tslrt

In that forum, I'm "Whozat," and it's the best discussion of this
microphone issue I've found so far. I'm probably the only poster there
with an Audigy SE sound card, but this issue occurs for me with my
onboard Sigmatel audio, too, and other posters are also having the
problem with Creative's X-Fi card.

It seems some people are able to get their mic working. However, most
aren't. I'm in the same boat with my X-Fi. Maybe try the creative lab
forums?

Say Justin, weren't you just bitching about me using the term dummy
and here you are calling people idiots. Oh the irony...

Now get to your dancing for our amusement punk, I'll let you know when
you can stop.

Sorry about that Morris. adam is the current troll in this NG running amuck
with his garbage.

Anyway, I see someone who frequents the Creative forum is pointing you in a
better direction.

Hope it works out.

Thanks to Justin (message understood) and Daze.............I'll check out the
other Forum.
The beauty of these Forums is that it makes you realise that you are not the
only one with the problem.
Thanks

Here is up-to-date response to this question:
Yes Creative has the most incredible three updates for your card and first
uninstalling your previous sound programss and then install the Aduigy se
updates in the order first with the no. 1 update and then the player update
for vista and then the plug-in updates and you are rock n' rollin people.
